Ten most anticipated Metal releases of 2017 | Metaljesus Magazine

Just like 2016, the new year seems to be riding high on metal. There’s tonnes of releases lined up for the year, from every corner of the world. As each year passes, the metal fans have something to yearn for from their favourite bands/ artists. There’s everything from Black Metal to Thrash Metal to Death Metal to Symphonic Metal, you name it, there you have it. Last year was a good year for Thrash. We have managed to compile some of them below, for this year.

SEPULTURAMachine Messiah

The Brazilian Metal giants are set to release their fourteenth studio release on January 13, 2017 via Nuclear Blast Records after a gap 4 years since their previous release which was very well received. This is one of the most anticipated releases this year and fans went frenzy over the single ‘Phantom Self’, which can be heard below.

KREATORGods of Violence

One of the most iconic Teutonic Thrash Metal bands, Kreator plans to follow their much acclaimed release ‘Phantom Antichrist’ with another killer album titled ‘Gods of Violence’. The two singles that the band released are a Testament (no pun intended) to the fact that ‘Gods of Violence’ is here to Slay.

XANDRIATheater of Dimensions

Symphonic Metal veterans plan to release their album on the same date as the Kreator, January 27. the band released the single titled We are Murderers (We all) which also features Björn Strid of Soilwork is a powerful single which should give an idea of what a monster of an album it’s going to be like.

The album seems to be a grand affair as it features some other guests like Henning Basse, Zaher Zorgati of Myrath, and Ross Thompson of Van Canto.

OVERKILLThe Grinding Wheel

Three years since their last release ‘White Devil Armory’ which was a mammoth release. Thrash Legends Overkill don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Their album ‘The Grinding Wheel‘ releases on February 10 this year. The band released two singles to promote this record and from the looks of it, its going to be a mean record, the Overkill way!

MARILYN MANSON- Say 10

As the title suggests this is the upcoming tenth full length release of the one of the most well known Industrial Metal artists Marilyn Manson. He is known for his extreme imagery, terrific stage presence and offensive lyrics that have transcended across and from what the people who have worked closely with Manson on this record claim that its in the roots of Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals which in itself is a major reason for the fans to rejoice and look forward to this record which releases on the 14th of February.

HAVOK – Conformicide

This record is going to be Havok‘s first album under Century Media Records having released their previous records under Candelight Records and also the first album to feature Nick Schendzielos of Cephalic Carnage. It will be interesting to see what Nick will bring to the table for these modern era thrashers who have put out some great materials in the past. Looks like 2017 will still carry on with Thrash metal as the central theme. The album releases on March 10, 2017.

IMMOLATION – Atonement

With dissonant harmonic patterns, complex rhythm sections and dual guitars, the New York Death Metal veterans Immolation return with ‘Atonement‘ their 10th full-length album. One of the most consistent bands, the single the quartet released on December 15th last year (2016) titled ‘Destructive Currents’ pretty much sums up the fact that this album is going to be a very powerful release as well. The album releases on February 24th this year.

DEMONIC RESURRECTIONDashavatar

One of the biggest acts from India, Demonic Resurrection is a band that has released albums that have stood the test of time and Dashavatar is the band’s 5th full-length album following the release ‘The Demon King‘ album which was a grandiose release in its own right. This also happens to be the first album since the band’s debut release to not feature their long time keyboardist (member) Mephisto who left the band in 2016. It will be interesting to see whether this would alter the sound of the band or not. Before revealing the track list and the artwork done by Visual Amnesia, A Pledge Music campaign was was held by the band for this release and from the turnout it seems clear that the band has some very strong supporters. Watch out for this release as it might just be one of the band’s best. The album releases on March 15th this year.

BELPHEGOR– Untitled album- May 5th, 2017

Austrian Blackened Death Metal giants Belphegor have announced their new album scheduled for release worldwide on May 7th, 2017. The band has now collaborated with Jason Seucof to produce the album, who has also worked with bands like Cannibal Corpse and Deicide to name a few.

PALLBEARERHeartless

Doomsters Pallbearer are all set to release their next album ‘Heartless’ on March 24th, 2017 via Nuclear Blast Records. This also happens to be the band’s first release under a major record label. The band has been making some waves in recent times. The band plays some straight forward Doom Metal amalgamated with occasional melodies and vocals that are reminiscent of Ozzy Osbourne. They had successful releases through their previous record label Profound Lore Records. It would now be interesting to see how their upcoming release would be for a band that goes down the lines of Black Sabbath.
