[ALBUM REVIEW] DIABOLIZER- Apokalypse

The first thing that comes to your mind, when you think of Turkey is food and the picturesque country side. Not many know that Turkey has a beautiful side to it, an ever growing metal scene, barring the fact that this wonderful country has succumbed to law and order situation and chaos of late, to even a few international bands cancelling shows due to the same.

I think it’s safe to say that DIABOLIZER is one of the best metal bands to come out of Turkey. With their latest full length – Apokalypse, the band makes a striking come back with this. Fit with powerful tracks such as ‘Process the void’, ‘Temple of Demonic Torment’, ‘Descend into desolation’ to name a few. It’s fascinating to see how the band has amalgamated Death Metal and Blackened Death Metal, to create this punching album.

The vocals are powerful; got to appreciate how the vocalist has tried to make his pronunciation clearer, against the music. Of course, you can notice a lot of improvisation in a few songs, especially in ‘Hammer of Diabolization’. The drumming style is reminiscent of legends such as George Kollias, Donald Tardy, Hannes Grossman to name a few. It’s well executed that maintains the flow and the aggression throughout this album. The blast beats are still ringing in my ears, was really impressed with the technicality and the varying drum pattern. That’s what makes this album a lot more special, I had say. The guitars are poisonous. The tremolo picking is almost perfect, but the raw production snips it out, however the riffs are edgy and you cannot snap out of how the songs have the maintained the rhythm and the atmosphere. The solo in ‘Descend into Desolation’ is short and sharp. The bass adds the right amount of groove in each song.

Overall, it’s a well written album, with a raw production the way it was meant to be.  Fans of Suffocation, Behemoth, Nile etc., will be pleased with this record.
